Great expectations chapter 29, 30, 31

Chapter 29

Pip is going to be meeting Estella and he is very happy. Before he goes to Miss Harvisham’s he decides to go for a walk. He knows Estella is rude to him but he can’t get over her, Pip beloved that him and Estella should be together. Pip knocks on miss Harvisham’s gate. Orlick appearers he is miss Harvisham’s new gatekeeper. Pip funds miss Harvisham in her living room and Estella comes. Pip and Estella goes for a walk in the garden. They talk and Estella seems to not remember any of the stories Pip told her. Pip and Estella see a ghost in the brewery and Pip tries to not look like he is scared. Pip and Estella going inside and Estella gets ready for dinner. Miss Harvisham tells Pip that he must love Estella. Jagger’s arrives. Dinner is awkward so Pip, Jagger’s and Estella play cards while miss Harvisham is putting jewels in her hair. Miss Harvisham’s asks Pip to escort Esteela from London to Richmond when she comes down in the next few weeks. Pip goes to bed thinking about him and Estella and he realises that he can’t go back to Joe.

Chapter 30

The next morning Pip tells Jagger’s how he doesn’t like him and Jagger’s demands that he should be fired straight away. Pip is worried that he might cause tension between Jagger’s and Orlick. Pip gets ready to leave and when he leaves he get mocked by trabb’s boys. When Pip gets home he tells Herbert about Estella and how he loves her. Herbert tries to reassure Pip and tells Pip that he is also in love with a girl called Clara and that he is going to be getting married to her.

Chapter 31

Pip goes to the theatre with Herbert. Mr. Wopsle  is in a play called Hamlet by Shakespeare. The play isn’t going very good as the guy who plays Hamlet’s dead father has a bad cough and doesn’t know his lines very well so he has to carry them around with him. Pip and Herbert try to motivate him but they realize there’s no point. They find the play hilarious and laugh throughout the play. The audience make the play interesting by interacting with the play. Mr. Wopsle comes round to have dinner and doesn’t leave until 2 am. Pip goes to bed unhappy thinking about Estella once again.

Great expectations chapter 26, 27 & 28

Chapter 26

Pip goes to Mr Jagger’s to have dinner. While they are at the table Pip accuses Drummle of not paying stratop for the money he lent him. Pip notices that Molly is weird and pays close attention to her.

Chapter 27

Pip gets a letter from Biddy saying Joe is going to be visiting him in London. Biddy also says how his sister thinks about him every night. Biddy hopes that Pip doesn’t think differently about Joe as he is a blacksmith. Pip is excited to meet Joe. Pip later on becomes ashamed of Joe and is happy that he won’t be seeing him. Pip changes up his apartment and hires a boy to be his servant and calls his phantom avenger because he doesn’t do much and hangs  around like a ghost. Joe arrives and is happy to see Pip but Pip isn’t happy to see him. As Joe walks in the house he notices the avenger but doesn’t take note of him, he doesn’t know where to hang his hat and Pip decides not to help him. Joe tells Pip everything that’s been happening. He says how Mr. Wopsle has left the church to become an actor. Joe tells Pip that he came because Miss Harvisham told him to tell her that Estella is back in town and wants to see him. Joe gets ready to go and says how life has taken them in two different directions.

Chapter 28

Pip decided to go and visit Joe and promises himself that he’s going to stay at Joes instead of the village. On the way back home 2 convicts sit in front on Pip and Pip realises that he knows one of them. The man who gave him the two pound note at the jolly bargemen’s. The convicts tells a story to the other convicts how he gave two pounds to a boy once. Pip gets scared incase the convicts realises him and gets off the bus at the next stop. When Pip gets to the blue bear the people there notices Pup as a young boy that Pumblechook is responsible for.

Great Expectations 23, 24 & 25

Chapter 23

In this chapter Pip visits commercial world of the royal exchange before he visits Matthew to be tutored and have something to eat. The Pocket’s house is an energetic and chaotic place where the servants to charge. Matthew is a careless, kind person.  The nurse is raising the children. Pip’s fellow students are odd, a young man named Startop is soft and delicate. Pip has dinner at Matthew’s and he tries to focus on his table manners that Herbert taught him.

Chapter 24

In this chapter Pip goes to Jagger’s office to see if he can share rooms with Herbert. Mr Wemick invites Pip to have dinner, Pip sees Jagger’s in the courtroom where he is frightening the judge with his speeches.

Chapter 25

Pip goes to Wemmick’s to eat. Wemmick talks about how he’s built a small castle in Walworth and asks Pip if he wants to meet the aged which is his father. Pip and Wemmick meets the aged and nods at him continuously as he likes to be nodded at. While their with the aged they have a good time in the castle.

Summarise the information

Opening paragraphs – The beginning of an essay.

Promoting unhealthy food –  When fast foods like McDonald’s are being shown on TV. They make the food so cheap that they attract more people.

Exploiting workers – Unfairly using workers without paying them.

Robbing the poor – Vast areas of land in poor countries are used for cash cops.

Damaging the environment – Things like pollution and global warming is damaging the environment. People are being affected by the all the pollution in the air and are needing asthma pumps.

Cruelty to animals – Animals are being killed for medicine and furniture which isn’t good. It helps us but animals are going to be extinct soon.
